5" Gauge Class 20
Jim leaving the Raised Track station with has Class 29 loco produced by Compass House Model Engineering.
Powered by 4 x 24volt Electric motors mounted on the bogies. This loco is often seen hauling passengers on Public Open Days.

5" Gauge SECR 0-6-0 tendered locomotive
Club locomotive "MINX" an 0-6-0 tendered locomotive, based on a South Eastern and Chatham Railway built locomotive, she was built by by John & Ted Marks.
The locomotive was bequeathed to the Society in 1985. an it is a regular performer at Malden.
The locomotive is seen at Rythe station with its current guardian William. |

Derek, Brian and Collin working on the new signal gantry outside the maintenance shed. The gantry will have three full size colour light shunt signals which will control reverse line running movements from the North Pole area back towards the level crossing.
Goliath is being used here as a working platform. Also seen are the built in arc welder, 240/120 volt transformer (all the outdoor tools are 120 volt), 50 metre cable drum, miscellaneous tool bins and parts storage bins (there is a similar set on the other side), electric drill, cramps, and the all important beer bottles. One of the shunt signals can just be seen at the foot of the picture. Note that despite Goliath only being mounted on 7¼” gauge, there is no need for any stabilisers or outriggers when used as a work platform |

The driver is Ken Parker is, with a 5" gauge, 1"inch scale GWR 2-6-2 built by Peter Larkin,
The Great Western Railway (GWR) 4575 Class is a class of steam locomotive. They are 2-6-2T small prairie type based on the 4500 Class but with larger side tanks. No less than 11 of these tank engines survived, 4588, 5521, 5526, 5532, 5538, 5539, 5541, 5542, 5552, 5553 and 5572. 5553 was the last steam engine to leave Woodhams' Scrapyard in Barry, South Wales, in January 1990. |

Kevin working on the centre spindle grinder, the grinder is a recent addition, and Kevin has done a great deal to get the machine fully operational. It is now working very well.

2007/10 LSWR No 100
This is a London and South Western Railways Adams 0-4-0T locomotive type B4 shunter. They were used at Southampton docks and other large goods yards, originally built is in 1898 and 30 odd were built. Currently only two survived and were preserved, one called 'Normandy' No. 96 on the Bluebell Railway, and the other called 'Granville' No.96 is at Bressingham museum
This lovely model was built in 1992 and is owned by Ivan. This locomotive with its small wheels and large cylinders has proved to be a powerful engine for its size. |

The Southern Railway Class V or Schools Class is a class of steam locomotive. It represents the ultimate development of the British 4-4-0 type. All 40 of the class were named after prominent English public schools.
The locomotives were designed by Richard Maunsell, the cab was specifically designed to fit the restricted gauge on the Hastings line. The fastest recorded speed for these locomotives was 95 mph achieved by Repton in 1938, pulling four coaches
